About Memorial Pages
Below is a letter that Glenn Clay sent to Wallace Breece in Nickison, Kansas on September 27, 1957. Glenn always made handwritten copies of what he sent out to other people. Although he wasn't always correct in his assumptions (on the Clay side of the family) He did his best given the resources he had available at that time. If you wonder why I do this this letter should supply the answer.
I have been blessed with a number of mementos, photographs and records that were left to me by various branches of my family and finally have tried to organize them and make them accessible. As I find more through my studies I will associate them with the area or families they belong.
I believe information should be shared. I have spent most of my life searching for information that has been hidden in attics or in distant areas that I can not get to. I have been very fortunate to have had ancestors who have kept and identified photographs and family history.
I have also been very lucky to have known many people who have mentored me into how to find this information. Some of them are George and Marilyn Cryder, Alice Baker and all of the Delaware Historical & Genealogical Society, Dave Roth, Louis Neff, Robert McCormmick and most of all Otho "Glenn" Clay. I would also like to acknowledge all members of the Sheets , Longwell and Thurston families and who always have information and are willing to share it. Michael and Sandra Kaser for the Gaylord information which I have edited and made additions. I would also like to thank Charles and Betty Sheets, Pauline Gephart and Henry Sheets for preserving the history of the area in photos & stories. I would also like to thank my new friends who are also very supportive Judy Mosher Ebersole, Harry Van Squires, Edwin & Ester Westbrook, Suzanne Link Allen, William Replogle, Crystal Kohler, Jim Biven and Linda Shields. Also the other family researchers Kathy Dean, Eva Goeken, Margaret Harke, Bob Hutchisson, Barbara (Longwell) Murphy , Erin (Fogarty) Kellis and Betty McNeal who have taught me so much about my own families.
I would also like to thank my Parents , wife Robin (Kinney) Clay and sons Dan and Luke for all their support.
The Clay Family is few in numbers. The majority of them died at an early age from consumption and many never knew their biological parents because of this. My extended family is plentiful and many still live in the area where I have chosen to live and raise my family. It has been my greatest pleasure to know them.
I have often found some of my work on other web sites and without a acknowledgment. I will always attempt to acknowledge who makes contributions and encourage people to help. Uncle Glenn Clay told my mother to always put names on pictures, so I want to pass this on as my one piece of advice to everyone.
I would like to dedicate this site to the following persons who died much to young.
